Well what can you say about a Moody Blues festival cruising around the Caribbean?
It was great! A pile of Moodies fans reveling in moody bluesiness .
No, it wasn’t any kind of Moodies reunion; no Mike , Ray or Denny. Nor did the 3 Moodies shlepp around with the fans on board except for John and Graeme briefly, surrounded by security. (who can blame them?) But the spirit of their music was everywhere and everyone got to see plenty of them! From the welcome of the on deck “blue out” at departure to an interview by a NY rock critic to their regular concert performance to their storytellers discussion (which they paid homage to Buddy Holly) to their individual get togethers for wine tasting etc.(which we didn’t get tickets for) there was plenty of the Moodies to see. I can almost say I was pretty much Moody’d out by the end..
Nah , not really.
For us, The Zombies were excellent as was Greg Lake. Simply amazing. We were fortunate to see The Zombies at a Hippiefest concert a couple of years ago so it was so cool to see them again 3 times on board the ship. But even better yet, we rode the elevator with Rod Argent where I babbled at him about how my wife drove me crazy with the song “Hold Your Head Up” while we were dating because she played it all the time.. (I like the song too) but I didn’t get to mention how much I have always loved his hit Zombies songs… top notch, up there in Beatle and Moody Blues land.
It really was a great time for all… even the crotchety old guys.
